Athenry is wonderfully unique because it is one of the best preserved medieval walled towns in Ireland. It still retains its original walls, the surrounding fosse (ditch) and the grand north gate archway. For many years Athenry was a marketplace hub for agriculture and trade. Here are just some of these historical accounts.
