Soon the rafters will be ringing again in The Castlegate Hotel when rehearsals for Athenry Musical Society’s 2001 production, “Anything Goes”, begin after Christmas. Last year’s inaugural production of “Fiddler on the Roof’ was a magnificent success and set a high standard with Pat Naughton’s portrayal of Tevye deservedly achieving the runner-up award in the AIMS Best Male Vocal category.
“Anything Goes”, with music by Cole Porter, is set on a cruise liner in the1920s and is a fast-moving comedy. Some of last year’s cast are again involved, with some new members from surrounding areas, and some of the minor parts have not yet been cast. Places in the chorus are also up for grabs so anyone who sounds good in the bathroom would be more than welcome to join!
If you would like to get involved either on stage or backstage with what promises to be a wonderful community show, please contact any of the committee, Marie Gardner, Chairperson or Margaret Seery, Secretary.
