The Actor, a Portrait in Pastels by Francis Kennedy

Three Athenry artists have joined forces to present “Exhibition 3”, an exhibition and sale of original art, in The Castlegate Hotel, Athenry from Thursday 8th August to Sunday 11th August. The exhibition, will show approximately 50 original works in various media, including oils, acrylics, watercolours and ink, will be opened by Paddy Creaven of Cregal Art, Galway.

Damian McNamara from Ard Aoibhinn, is a graduate of Limerick College of Art & Design, and his works are mainly investigative studies in mixed media on canvas, both abstract and figurative, embracing elements of collage and oils in the context of space and scale. Francis Kennedy has taught art for many years and is best known for his pen and ink illustrations, some of which have appeared in the Athenry Journal. His work for Exhibition 3 includes some pastel portraits, stylised gouache on paper, cartoons and acrylic studies on canvas and board.
