The credit union has been running the poster competition for the past ten years. The purpose of the competition is to produce posters to incorporate in the national credit union calendar. There are three stages in the competition – credit union level, chapter level and national level. The winning posters at national level are displayed in the twelve months of the national credit union calendar.
The competition is divided into four age groups – 7 yrs and under, 8 to 10 yrs, 11 to 13 yrs and over14 years. Entrants are given the opportunity to display their artistic and creative talents in glorious colour. The theme this year is “Join Us!”
The President of Athenry Credit Union Mr Gerard Ryan at the presentation of prizes complimented all competitors on the very high standard of the posters submitted. He thanked parents and teachers for their assistance and encouragement. He wished the winners the best of luck at the chapter level to be held at the community hall, Athenry on 1st of December.
