Compliments of Wikipedia

Members of the Book Club meet in the library on the second Wednesday of the month at 3p.m.

Our author is chosen and Kay McCormack (Librarian) arranges to have a number of books by the chosen author available, the merits or demerits of these books are discussed the following month.

The tastes of the group are diverse and wide ranging —Irish and English authors such as William Trevor, Kate O’Brien, Iris Murdoch, Margaret Forster, J.D. Ballard, Fay Weldon, Joanne Harris, Muriel Spark have featured in our discussions. We have also read American authors — Carole Shields, Annie Prouix and Louis Eldridge. Detective novels, biographies, and travel books have added further variety.

As 2004 is the centenary of Bloomsday we decided to read some of James Joyce, so Dubliners, Portrait of the Artist and perhaps some of Ulysses is on our list for the next couple of months, interspersed with some lighter reading.

New members are welcome.
