Cleary’s Loss Assessors is a company who represent the public with the handling of their insurance claims dealing primarily with property damage. The company, which started trading in 1984, was started by Sean Cleary in Athenry.

Property damage such as fire, water damage due to burst pipes or flooding, lightning strikes, malicious damage and burglary claims affect our community on a daily basis. This can be a very traumatic experience for property owners. The hassle of getting everything replaced in the current construction boom means that even getting a quotation from contractors can be a time consuming exercise particularly for small jobs. Clearys will take all the pressure, work and hassle away from you to allow you to get on with your own daily work. Clearys can also organise the contractors if required.

Insurance Companies and their representatives, ie. Loss Adjusters, under the New Financial Regulators Code of Practice, are obliged to advise claimants that they have the right to use an Independent Assessor themselves to represent them, similar to appointing a Solicitor to represent your interest in legal situations. Needless to say, this piece of advice rarely comes!

With offices in Galway, Limerick, Dublin and Letterkenny, Clearys are the biggest employer in Loss Assessing in Ireland.

Sean Cleary has been Managing Director of the Company for the past 23 years and therefore has a wealth of experience in claims handling throughout Ireland. The majority of Clearys work is made up of Residential claims such as burst pipes, chimney fires, flood and storm damage etc. Clearys also deal with commercial losses and have been involved in many multi-million Euro claims around the country incorporating Property Damage, Machinery, Stock and Business Interruption Claims, all of which have the knock on effect on employment and on a company’s survival after a loss.

At times of loss, you rely entirely on your insurance company’s Goodwill and Bona Fides and Financial Support, which sometimes can be sadly lacking in the Irish Market.

Clearys have a number of employees who hail from Athenry.

Linda Lyons, who operated an insurance brokerage, Farrell Insurance Brokers, in Athenry for many years and whose family have been in business in the town for decades, is now working in the company as a Residential Claims Handler. Her years of experience in insurance is paying dividends for her clients.

Kim Gill completed his Masters Degree in Law in Paris and subsequently joined Thornton & Partners Loss Adjusters, where he received his introduction to claims handling. Kim joined Clearys a year ago and is now involved in claims’ negotiation at all levels throughout Ireland.

Michael Higgins, Quantity Surveyor, and his team work with Clearys on a consultancy basis dealing primarily in quantifying reinstatement costs for building damage.

Cleary’s team of expert claim negotiators and handlers are well placed to deal with any Insurance Claim in Residential or Commercial losses.
