Summer Sales Shopping

The Summer Sales can be a wonderful opportunity to purchase something that bit special or unusual especially now that the Galway Races are just around the corner. We all love a bargain and there is nothing like snapping up that long coveted for item at a fraction of the price! One word of warning though – beware of impulse buying in a stressful sale situation in the larger chain stores in the cities. Why not take the panic out of sale-time and look to the smaller independently run boutiques? Here you will get a genuine reduction on something of a higher quality personally chosen by the owner. Many of these indigenous shops are right here on our doorstep in Athenry.

With all of that in mind, here are a few pointers to get the most out of the sales:

The first rule of thumb when sales shopping is that a bargain isn’t really one unless you really like the item.

Trust your own taste and good judgement.

Try absolutely everything on in the dressing room because looking gorgeous on the hanger is not the same as looking great on you!

Buy what flatters your figure.

Try not to be tempted to buy ‘high-fashion’ pieces. Instead you should invest in timeless classics e.g. a well-cut trousers or skirt.

Buy accessories if they are on sale — remember a new pair of earrings or a scarf can make something look good on you and transform the way you look.

Try not to always follow the trends that celebrities set or a magazine advocates. This can be expensive business.

Now that you can buy more for less, this a great chance to experiment and create your own personal and unique style! Who knows, you may win the Best Dressed title at the Galway Races?
