Lisheenkyle National School Golden Jubilee 2001

Fifty years have passed since Lisheenkyle National School first opened its doors.

To mark this special occasion the Board of Management will be organising a celebration before the end of this school year

There are many old photographs in the school but there must be many more out there. If you come across any please send them into the school — we will return them when our celebration is over.

Are there any budding Maeve Binchys or John Bs out there who have old school stories to tell? We hope to produce a magazine to mark the occasion. Already one or two past pupils have sent articles which make very enjoyable reading.

After 50 years Lisheenkyle won its first county title in 7 aside football this year thanks to Tom Divilly and his mentors who coached the team.

Monivea Rugby Club encouraged us to take part in the Connacht Tag Rugby Blitz this year.

We were overall winners of the “Parade of Nations” where we donned the national costume of Japan.

The girls have formed a camogie team and Josephine Ruane is their coach. They took part in the schools’ camogie competition this year.

We’re looking forward to our Christmas visit from Santa and our annual Christmas play.
