2004 Mini Marathon raised €611O for Cystic Fibrosis

This is the third successive year that Rose Cronin and Sharon Cooley have coordinated this major fund-raising event by enlisting the help of their families and friends.

The group enjoyed the 10km sponsored walk and were delighted to be able to help this worthy cause.

All funds raised are used for research purposes. The Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland currently provides funding for 5 research projects – all from voluntary contributions. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disorder of the lungs and digestive system for which there is no known cure.

There are over 1000 persons with Cystic Fibrosis in Ireland and 45 in Galway. Rose and her team acknowledges and appreciates the efforts of their supporters and sponsors and extend a special thank you to the coach driver Gabriel Ryan.

The cheque for €6110 was presented to Mary Lane Heneghan of the Galway Branch of the Cystic Fibrosis Association at a recent meeting.

Mary thanked Rose Cronin and her team and outlined the many services of the Cystic Fibrosis.
