Structural Insulated Panel Systems

Faster, Smarter and Greener – the future is SIP

SIP Energy Ltd. is an Athenry based company, set up by two brothers, Sheamus and Micheal Quinn of Caheroyan, Athenry. Micheal Quinn, who already has the successful local business, MJ Quinn Ltd, Refrigerated Body Building, decided to diversify into Structural Insulated Panels for buildings. Sheamus Quinn, an Engineer with several years’ experience with Coffey Construction, set up the company with Micheal, in May 2006. Together with John Moylan, they have spent the last year researching, developing and testing panels to achieve a BRE (British Research Establishment) Certification.

SIP stands for Structural Insulated Panel, and is the latest building technology for the construction of buildings, houses, schools, offices etc. SIP consist of an inner core of high performance insulation sandwiched between two outer layers of oriented strand board (OSB). SIP’s produce a structurally superior, better insulated, faster to erect and more environmentally friendly house and are the answer in a climate of spiralling increases in material labour and energy costs. Panels are constructed in a newly built factory in Athenry and sent to site ready for erection.

There are many reasons for choosing a SIP structure for your home. With an A Rating Energy build and particularly good airtightness, it is possible to utilise aero thermal and passive solar design features. SIP Panels also have superior insulation values compared to conventional methods. And, with facings that are made from renewable, farm-grown trees, your SIP Building also reduces pollution by consuming much less heating and cooling energy — and in so doing, reducing the all important ‘carbon footprint’ that is destined to become a bigger feature of modern living. On site, the quickly enclosed space is more secure, produces a better environment for other trades to begin their specialities, and can be erected faster than a conventional one. They are structurally superior and in uses around the world, have survived earthquakes and hurricanes whilst other houses around them were destroyed.

SIP Energy also provide a range of high performance portable and demountable building systems. These durable and secure buildings create a space that’s comfortable and provide a quality working environment, and is adaptable to a range of applications such as schools, canteens, additional office space, facilities etc.

There are two solutions available dependant upon your needs – The Portable System and the Demountable System.

The Portable System

As the name implies, our Portable System consists of a range of units which can be delivered to site by truck, lifted into place, and can be utilised straight away. Units can be delivered pre-fitted with wiring, LAN, plumbing etc and merely require hook-up for a fully functioning work or facility space. They are available in a range of sizes and configurations to suit your requirements, and we will always strive to facilitate custom requirements.

The Demountable System

Built to the same high standard as our Portable units, these are adaptable to larger applications, with high quality internal and external surfaces, and are assembled on site to create immediate capacity for office, facilities, storage, laboratory or maintenance uses. This is ideal, for example, for those larger applications with semi or permanent foundations (e.g. vehicular access required into the building), for rugged use, or for where end-of-life relocation is not required.
