Great Success for Athenry AC in Waterford National Half-Marathon

Athenry Juvenile Athletics Club News by Sean Kindregan

We wish to thank everybody who helped organise and arrange the reception in the Square to welcome home Paul Hession and the large crowd that turned out at the Square and all those who had bonfires, all of which contributed to making the night such a success.

Training

Athenry Juvenile A.C. has resumed its training programmes and the schedules for the rest of the year are as follows:

The 6 to 9 year olds: Fun and Athletics Programme is on in the Presentation College Gym at 7.15 pm on Thursdays (starting 2nd October). There will be a charge of €1O membership for new members and €2 per night.

Cross Country training will continue in the Newcastle pitch (near church) on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7.00pm and Sunday morning at 11.00 am.

We are starting a new Multi Event Training Programme at the soccer Astra turf on Friday evenings from 7.30pm to 9.00pm.

The first session will be on Friday, October 3rd. We are hoping to have training for High Jump, Long Jump, Hurdles, Sprints, Shot Putt and Javelin at this session.

We have booked the Astra turf from 8 to 9pm so warm up will start in green area near the Long Jump at 7.30pm sharp. There will be a charge of €2 per night.
